I had last week off work, and my Dad had a flexible work schedule, so on Tuesday at noon we started cleaning the garage! (Click the picture for more Before/After pictures) When we started, I think we intended to just tackle certain areas, but once we got on a roll, it just made sense to do it right. Everything went out into the sideyard/backyard. It got sorted into piles for recycling, charity, discard, paper-sorting, electronics, wires, etc. Then we cleaned out each cabinet to make room for the stuff that was being kept. By Sunday night, we were 95% done. Three sorting projects remain, and I expect they will be done by next weekend.
The End Result:
-A car can park in the garage
-A functional permanent workshop area
-A functional Electronics Testing table, with all the electronic testing equipment stored nearby.
-Improved functionality in the "shipping room"
The Stats:
5 Recycling Bins
4 Loads to the "Recycling / Hazardous Waste / Electronics" Center
3 Car-loads to The Salvation Army.
1 Dumpster
1 Trip to the dump
?# of trips to Target and Office Max for organizer crates and drawers.
I'm proud of my Dad for sticking with this project. The results have been amazing!!!
