Surprise Housewarming Party

My friends are awesome!!! They threw me a Surprise Housewarming Party on Saturday night. I knew that Neva & Marc were coming over for dinner, but when I opened the door, there was a whole crowd of people: Marc, Neva & Emma Loeb, Jeff, Sharon, Jimmy, Braedon, Dylan & Joiya Szolomayer, Heidi & Marley, Kenton, Betty Schmieter and Marilyn (from the lakebed), and my Mom & Dad.

Marc made some really good lasagna, and there was bread and fruit salad and cranberry salad, and cheesecake. And all the kids were jumping on my bed and laughing and having a great time. Emma and Joiya became quick friends, which was so cute.

Apparently the surprise was almost blown when I decided to take out the trash. (The dumpster is in the parking lot, where people were starting to arrive), but I was clueless: I didn't see Heidi's car, although she saw me. And when I saw my mom in the parking lot, she thought quick on her feet and made up a story that seemed plausible, (if a little weird,) but I didn't think too much about it because I had my own stuff going on... Marc & Neva were arriving soon. Then after I was back inside, everybody knocked on the door and surprised me.

It was such a blessing to have so many of the people I love in my home all at once. I'm not sure how to adequately explain how much that party helped those four walls to feel like a home. It was really amazing.
